History

After receiving many requests for training professional pilots, Martin Franck and Gino Loosen decided in 1989 to found a pilot school. Airventure was born, with all activities concentrated at the airport of Deurne, Antwerp. Shortly after, Airventure bought its first aircraft, a Cessna 182RG that is still in use today. In 1992, the fleet was first expanded with a Zlin 526F, a highly maneuverable plane suitable for aerobatic training.

At the end of that same year, an opportunity came to acquire a twin-engined pressurised turboprop. This new aircraft, an Embraer 121 Xingu bought from Sabena World Airlines, brought a change of emphasis from schooling to airtaxi operations. After engine overhauls and cosmetic works, this aircraft became operational in March 1993. For the comfort and convenience of its new passengers, Airventure also had a new lounge installed at Antwerp airport.

The activities of Airventure grew quickly, and now include both business flights and medical flights, including ambulance and human organ flights. Our high degree of efficiency and short reaction time, combined with a reasonable cost, made Airventure very appreciated in this field.

All this expansion required more space, so during the summer of 1996 Airventure moved to 'Hangar 100', the largest hangar at Antwerp airport. This has allowed us to park our entire fleet under one roof, as well as provide room for our new offices. In addition, we can now offer hangar space for your own business aircraft.

In 1999 Airventure started its program of aircraft management with a Cessna CitationJet.

In 2000 the company became TRTO for both the Xingu and the CitationJet.

In 2001 a second Embraer 121 Xingu joined the fleet.

2002 was the start of major renovation works to the hangar and offices.
